The proprietor, Glenda Webster, is the author of the book ‘Pre-litigation Drafting’, which she wrote in her family name ‘Searle’. Apart from her degrees in Commerce, Law and Applied Linguistics she has years of experience in writing, editing, teaching and training, with special reference to the production of legal texts.

After taking early retirement from her post as Academic Development Coordinator in the Law School at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2005, she established Legal English SA. Since that time the organisation has expanded its range of services from legal writing skills training for articled clerks to include the preparation of case summaries for Judgments on Line (JOL) for LexisNexis Butterworths to editing, indexing and the preparation of case lists for Juta Law (Pty) Ltd, Juta Academic (Pty) and for the Labour Law conference papers of two Universities: Tanzanian and University of Cape Town. Other commissions include the preparation of arbitration summaries and headnotes, and the specialized editing required for addressing the needs of police officials who read English as a second language.

In fields other than law, Legal English SA has edited research papers for political scientists and sociologists who write and speak English as a foreign language.
